As you may know, we have a gray pants rule here at Greentown Youth Baseball. This rule is in place for a couple reasons. As a league, we don't want to give the appearance that we favor one team over another. In the past, some teams would pay extra to upgrade their uniforms, specifically pants, shirts, and fitted hats. As a board, we decided to end that practice and standardize the uniforms so every level would dress equally. Thus, this keep the cost to parents down and no one will be pressured to upgrade and spend more money on uniforms. The board's goal is to keep cost down and still provide a high quality baseball experience for the players and parents.

All-Stars also factors into the gray pants rule. When All-Star teams are selected, the kids come from different teams and sometimes, different levels. In All-Stars, the kid's pants have to match. This means that new pants were needed to be purchased in order for kids to play All-Stars. The league pays for All-Star shirts and hats for each child selected but heard many times how expensive it was that parents had to purchase new pants for a few games. With this rule, everyone's pants will match and new pants will not be needed if the child is selected to an All-Star team.

For the 2020 season, this rule is no longer in effect for the Babe Ruth level (13-15)
